Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has defended its position as one of the most innovative universities not only in Germany but also worldwide and is once again among the world leaders in terms of sustainability. This is according to the latest “Impact Ranking” published by the British education magazine Times Higher Education (THE). The ranking assesses how universities around the world contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. At national level, FAU achieves excellent rankings in the SDGs and is therefore in the top league in Germany.

Great success in lifelong learning too

In the area of “Quality Education” (SDG 4), FAU has worked its way up a ranking group and even scored full points in the category “Lifelong Learning Measures” with its extensive continuing education program and offers such as the FAU Academy. With the FAU Academy, FAU has an outstanding range of continuing education opportunities for lifelong learning.

About THE Impact Ranking

In line with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in economic, social and environmental terms, THE Impact Ranking examines various criteria that can be used to evaluate and compare universities worldwide. Universities are free to choose which areas they apply for. For the current ranking, FAU entered the competition for the sustainability criteria.
